The School of Electric Power, Civil Engineering and Architecture(SEPCEA) begins its life in January 17, 2020, as four former individual departments including Department of Electrical Engineering, Department of Energy and Power Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering and Department of Engineering Management.
The school has a strong faculty. Up to now, there are 189 faculty members, including 138 teachers, 38 counselors and 13 experimental technicians. There are 12 professors, 58 associate professors, accounting for 51%, 41 teachers with doctoral degrees, accounting for 30%. There are 4237 students in the school, including 4104 undergraduates, 133 graduate students, and 120 Xinjiang students of being entrusted trained by the Ministry of Education.
The school has the entitlement to confer master degrees in the professional degree of electrical engineering and power engineering as well as civil engineering. Meanwhile, the school has two research institutes including the Simulation research and training center of Shanxi University and Modern building industry innovation research. Cooperating with the State Grid Shanxi Economic Research Institute, the Shanxi Jingneng Lvlin Power Generation Co., Ltd., Taiyuan Nanrui Jibao Electric Power Co., Ltd., and the Shanxi Zhenghe Thermal Engineering Co., Ltd., `the school has built a production-education training base of energy and power for graduate students.
The school consists of 11 undergraduate subjects, including electrical engineering and automation, building electrical and intelligent, energy and power engineering, building environment and energy application engineering, new energy science and engineering, civil engineering, architecture, project cost, engineering management, property management and intelligent building and construction. Among them, electrical engineering and automation and energy and power engineering have been selected into the Provincial Excellent Engineers Training Program.
The school has six teaching and research organizations, namely, electrical engineering and automation, energy and power, civil engineering, intelligent building and construction, electronic and mechanical drawing, as well as specialized laboratory center.
The school grasps the historical opportunity of Shanxi University’s "double first-class" university construction, and adheres to the concept of Morality education, takes talent cultivation as the center, emphasizes on discipline and specialty construction as leading point, strengthens the construction of teaching staff, deepens school-enterprise cooperation in talent training, further condenses the distinctive feature of talent cultivation, and continuously improves the quality of talent cultivation.
