The predecessor of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Shanxi University was the Department of Physics and Chemistry of a private Chinese university. It began to recruit students in 1931 and was changed to the Department of Chemistry in 1934.After long-term development and the joint efforts of many generations of chemists, a complete system of teaching, scientific research and personnel training has been formed. In 1986, the discipline obtained a master's degree in inorganic chemistry, and then obtained a master's degree in organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, and physical chemistry.In 1998, a doctoral degree in inorganic chemistry, and a doctoral degree in analytical chemistry and applied chemistry in 2003.The doctoral degree of the discipline is authorized, and then the doctoral programs of organic chemistry, physical chemistry, materials chemistry, and applied catalysis have been independently set up.So far, the doctoral degree authorization of this discipline covers all the second-level disciplines it belongs to, and has a chemistry postdoctoral mobile station. This discipline is the key cultivation discipline of "1331 Project" in Shanxi Province, among which inorganic chemistry and organic chemistry are the key disciplines of Shanxi Province, analytical chemistry and applied chemistry are the key construction disciplines of Shanxi Province, and it has the key laboratory of the Ministry of Education, the Engineering Center of the Ministry of Education, The National Chemistry Experiment Teaching Demonstration Center has three national platforms, as well as a provincial collaborative innovation center, two provincial key laboratories, two provincial engineering centers, and three provincial innovation teams.
