School of Political Science and Public Management

The predecessor of Shanxi University was Imperial University of Shanxi , built in 1902. With a history of 120 years, it is one of the first three national universities in China. The predecessor of the School of Politics and Public Administration can be traced back to the Department of Political Science under the Law Department of National Shanxi University in 1919. In 1931, Shanxi University established the Department of Political Science. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, many well-known domestic political scientists, including the first president of Shanxi University, Mr. Deng Chumin, a famous Marxist political scientist, have taught in the college,who Created a precedent for Marxist political science . In 1987, Shanxi University resumed the establishment of the Department of Political Science, and in March 2003 it was renamed the School of Politics and Public Administration.
In recent years, the School of Politics and Public Administration has formed a "two-wheel drive" development strategy for the discipline of political science and public management, and five characteristic scientific research platforms, it has formed a trinity scientific development model of "theoretical research, senior management service, and talents cultivation".
Facing the future, during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the the School of Politics and Public Administration will be guided by "building a high-level research college with distinctive regional characteristics and a think tank serving the country and the local area", and will build an organically integrated education system of full-time academic education, professional degree education, and training education.The school will coordinate and promote the overall layout of the first-level discipline of political science, strengthen the first-level discipline of public management, expand the professional degree of public management, and will coordinate the promotion of talent training, the building of teaching staff, teaching, scientific research, and social Service, and will blaze a new path of connotative high-quality development of political science and public management disciplines in the central region.
