The School for Marxism Studies of Shanxi University devotes itself to teaching and researching fundamental of Marxism, its modernization and Sinicization, ideological and political education, as well as basic issues of the history of modern China. It has postgraduate programs at both master and PhD degree levels. Postdoctoral followers and visiting scholars are welcome to join them.

It is the National Training Base (Shanxi University) for teachers of Ideological and Political Courses in Colleges and Universities, and its Marxism Sinicization Research Center is a Shanxi Province Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences.
