In November 2012, the Ministry of Science and Technology issued a document (International Science and Development No.: [2012]929), in which Shanxi University was rated as a national base for international cooperation in science and technology (a kind of center for international joint research) titled “International Joint Research Center for Atomic and Molecular Physics” (IJRCAMP).
Based on the Laser Spectrum Laboratory, the Quantum Optics and Optical Quantum Devices National Key Laboratory and the National Base for Talent Training in Science, IJRCAMP is the core force in the field of atomic and molecular physics and quantum information processing research in China. In recent years, the research team headed by Professor Jia Suotang has undertaken one project funded by the National Key Scientific Research Program, 4 projects funded by the National 863 Program, 32 other state-level projects and 39 projects at provincial and ministerial levels. Over the past five years, the research center has made significant progress in such fields as the preparation of ultra-cold atoms and molecules, optical regulation and control of single atoms and single molecules, exotic quantum state, etc., published 210 articles and won 15 national invention patents.
Up to now, IJRCAMP has established long-term cooperative relationship with quite a few foreign research institutions, including the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (National Center for Scientific Research), the University of Texas at Dallas and Umea University in Sweden. Cooperative research has been done in the fields like atomic and molecular physics and quantum information processing. A number of innovative results have been achieved.
