In August 2012, the Organization Department of Shanxi Provincial Party Committee and the Work Group for Attracting High-level Overseas Talent to Shanxi Province issued the name list of the 5th batch of overseas experts. Among others, five experts recommended by Shanxi University, namely Lou Huiru, Smits , Wang Hongfei, Qi Jianmin and Mi Hanfu, were included. Hence, the number of overseas experts included in the One Hundred Talent Program reached 27. Of these experts, 25 were introduced as short-term researchers and 2 as full time professors.
