The Guest-professor-appointment Ceremony of Academician Li Lemin from Peking University and His Academic Report Held

  On May 6th the guest-professor-appointment ceremony of Academician Li Lemin from College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering, Peking University and his academic report were held at our university. On behalf of our university, Vice-president Li Sidian attended the report and appointed Professor Li as a guest professor of our university. Academician Li gave an academic report entitled “The current situation and challenges of electronic structure calculation”. This report was one of the series of lectures held for the 110th anniversary of Shanxi University.



  Li Lemin is a professor from College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering, Peking University and a supervisor with doctoral candidates. Besides, he has many other academic positions such as the director of the Academic Committee of State Key Laboratory of Rare Earth Materials Chemistry and Applications, the director of the Academic Committee of State Key Laboratory of Theoretical and Computational Chemistry, chief editor of Science China: Chemistry, associate editor of Chemical Research in Chinese Universities, Chinese Chemical Letters and Journal of Molecular Science. His research achievement “Application of quantum chemistry - bonding rule and the electronic structure of rare earth compounds” was awarded the Second Prize of National Natural Science Award in 1987. Besides, he has participated in the compiling of some textbooks for postgraduates such as Quantum chemistry – basic principles and ab initio calculation (3 volumes), Key to exercises in the book Quantum chemistry – basic principles and ab initio calculation and Molecular symmetry group.
