How to Apply

Application Materials

1. Shanxi University Application Form for International Students. Please visit http://siee.sxu.edu.cn/  to download the application form.

2. Graduation certificate and degree diploma must be copies of original documents or certified copies either in Chinese or English. Students expecting to graduate should provide an official letter stating expected graduation date.

3. Official transcripts of your academic achievement up to the present, including courses taken and standards achieved, must be original documents or certified copies either in Chinese or English.

4. A personal statement (800 words for master program, 1500 words for doctorate program, must be in Chinese.) The format can be downloaded at http://siee.sxu.edu.cn/  (Degree-granting programs only).

5. Two recommendation letters from your referees. The referees should be professors or persons with relevant academic title. At least one of them should have knowledge of your recent academic work. The format of the recommendation letter must be original documents either in Chinese or English. The format of the reference letters can be downloaded at http://siee.sxu.edu.cn/  (Degree-granting programs only).

6. A copy of your HSK results (Degree-granting programs only).

7. One photocopy of your valid passport (passport type must be ordinary).

8. Personal resume in Chinese or in English. The format can be downloaded at http://siee.sxu.edu.cn/

9. Guardian’s certificate. The format can be downloaded at http://siee.sxu.edu.cn/

10. Proof of bank deposit

  All application materials will not be returned.

 

Application Process

Visit http://siee.sxu.edu.cn/ Fill in the application form for Shanxi University international students.

 

Submit application materials and the application fee to the International Students Office of Shanxi University.

 

The International Students Office will check and verify the submitted application materials.

 

Application materials will be passed on to the relevant subject department. Application materials will be re-verified and, if successful, invited to examination. (Degree-granting programs only)

 

International students to attend Department Examination. (Degree-granting programs only)

 

The International students Office will declare the names of successful candidates accepted by their respective program.

 

The International Students Office will send out a Certificate of Admission to successful applicants before 15th June or 15th January.

 

Application Deadline

Autumn semester: May 31st

Spring semester: November 31st

 

Registration Period

March and September of each year (as specified in the Certificate of Admission). The following documents should be presented to the International Students Office of Shanxi University when registering: a. Certificate of Admission; b. Application Form (JW202 form); c. Original Passport; d. 8 passport sized photos.

 

Accommodation Condition

Life on campus is very convenient. Campus includes hospital, post office, bank, supermarket, barbershop and ATM nearby. The school dining hall provides different flavored foods, such as Chinese food, fast food, local-featured food, baked goods and Muslim food. The physical education facilities are also well-equipped; there are playgrounds for basketball, volleyball, tennis and football. In the school gymnasium, badminton, table tennis and fitness centers are available to use.

Accommodations provide you with internet access, colored TV, telephone, air conditioner, restroom, bathroom, shared kitchen, laundry facilities and sports room, etc.

 

Medical Insurance

Shanxi University’s regulations require that all international students must be medically insured throughout their entire planned period of study. Students are required to purchase the Comprehensive Insurance Plan of Foreign Students provided by Ping An Insurance Company on the day of registration, which has been recognized and recommended by the Chinese Ministry of Education. Students who do not have valid medical insurance are not allowed to register.

 

Visa Information

Students admitted to Shanxi University may apply for their visa at the Chinese Embassy/Consulate in their country with their Certificate of Admission and JW202 form. International students who will study in China for over 6 months are required to obtain ‘X’ Visa, which will only be valid for 30 days after their arrival in China. They must go to the International Students Office and apply for a Residence Permit within 30 days in order to obtain legal status in China.
